A life in the balance

Just wanted to update everyone about what is going on with Christopher. Last Monday he was admitted to The Children's Hospital because he had stopped breathing. He did pretty good until they did the bronchial scope to look at his airways. During the procedure his throat swelled up to where he quit breathing, so they had to put him on a ventilator. The ventilator is now doing all the breath for Christopher. The pictures from the bronchial scope showed that there is 3 obstructions that are preventing him from breathing so they said the best option for him is to do a Treacheostomy so that he can breath better. Then the ear,Nose and throat specialists did an Upper GI on him to see how bad his reflux is. Well, I guess it is pretty bad because they have decided to do a nissen (stomach wrap) on his stomach to prevent him from having the reflux and aspirating into his lungs. Doing this will give his throat time to heal so that they can to the reconstructive surgery in April or May granted he has gained enough weight. So, tomorrow he will be getting the trach, nissen, and a Feeding tube (Gtube). All in all the surgeries will take anywhere from 4-5hrs. The nissen procedure is considered a high risk surgery due to the high risk of cutting something on accident or him bleeding out. There's a chance they wont make it tight enough and it won't help. Or they make it too tight and no food can get down there.

So, I am posting this too just ask those of you that will read this to be thinking of Christopher in his time of need. Tomorrow will be a very rough day for everyone and we just have to play everything by ear. Will post tomorrow with an update.

Sorry

Yeah I know like a month ago that I posted saying I would post in a few days, but you know, shit happens. I just haven't had much to update on. Still working on getting the loan closed for our house. Franks work decided to demote him and they brought in another woman who was originally supposed to be his assistant manager. His boss said it was because of us needing to work on the house. I am not sure the reason why but Frank and I had it all taken care of. More upset that his Boss didn't give him the opportunity to defend himself and tell him what we had planned. So, were waiting to see how his checks are going to work out. Since he's no longer the store manager he's not entitled to his $600 in store bonuses he usually gets. I would like to report some good news instead of always telling you bad news. I guess that's why I haven't posted.

Christmas started out shitty but it ended up ok in the end. My birthday was on Jan 31st and my brother Mike and sister Athena took me out to dinner. We wern't to Texas Roadhouse. I love that place. I really like Black Eyed Pea though. I wish we had one here. My sister Leora sent me a plant with some balloon and a teddy bear. It was very sweet.

Not that I expected anything differently from my father, but he was scarce. I was pretty upset because all of us usually get together as a family to celebrate one another on our birthdays. My father was too busy taking care of his new son that he was not able to join us on my birthday.

I did go up to Denver about 3 weeks ago and I had a really good time. Was nice to see my sister and my nephew Christopher. He is doing so good. He did have to go to the hospital a few times these past couple weeks, but everything is going great now. Leora is supposed to come down this weekend, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Then I found out yesterday that my mother is coming for a visit in April. That will be really nice. I sure miss all my family in Denver. I will eventually move closer.

Also, a special not for my cousin Bekka, I didn't forget about you girl. Just haven't felt like blogging much. You can always call or e-mail me. I hope your pregnancy is going well and I love you guys.

here's a few pictures for you guys. Enjoy.
